Magners Welsh Handicap Team Championship continues at DENBIGH GC
This weekend saw 100 amateur golfers competing in the fourth regional final of the 2008 Magners Welsh Handicap Team Championship. Held at Denbigh GC, teams representing golf clubs from across the region were looking to qualify for the grand final, and emulate the success of last year's winners, Pontypridd.
The action on the course saw both the A&B teams from Denbigh golf club qualifying for the grand final on 24th August at the exalted Celtic Manor Resort, Newport, home to the 2010 Ryder Cup. The Denbigh 'B' team comprised of Joshua Jones, Glyn Williams, Michael Payne and Jeff Griffiths completed a memorable victory. Joshua Jones commented on their success:
“We are delighted to have won today’s regional final, this is a fantastic competition for amateur golfers across Wales and we are already looking forward to competing in the grand final at Celtic Manor.”

The Individual winner of the event was Jeff Griffiths from the Denbigh 'B' team.
Unfortunately the District III & IV Qualifier, held at Pontypool GC had to be postponed due to the weather. An alternative date is still TBC.
There are a further four Regional Finals taking place across Wales throughout May and June.
